A message from the Club President

2009-10 has been another special year for Rotary International (RI) and the Canton Rotary Club.  We had the privlege of having the international convention in our district, in Montreal, and we had three Paul Harris award winners.  We sponsor a Roteract Club at St. Lawrence University, two young women nominated by our club are completing their Ambassadorial  Scholarship years, and we have a vibrant and involved membership.

As always, part of this next year’s agenda will include membership retention and growth.  But the best way to do that is by being involved in interesting and helpful projects locally and globally.  We have grown in our international outreach beyond purchasing Shelter Boxes and helping during the Group Study Exchange, through small program support from the district and  RI.  And locally our projects include such activities as funding scholarships for children to go to camp at Dodge Pond, contributing to the Christsmas Angel tree, the Community Food Bank, and supporting the Canton Day Care Center and the Traditional Arts of Upstate New York.  We do this with fund raising activities that provide the community and the membership an opportunity for fellowship while raising funds.

Our desire is to live the Rotary motto,  “Service above Self”,  here and abroad, providing our members an opportunity to give back.  We can do it only through the support and dedication of our members.

I thank all of our current members, and invite prospective members to come to a meeting and see what its all about.

Yours in Rotary,

Kathryn L. Mullaney - President
