Each year, the Canton Rotary Club sponsors several events meant to raise funds that are then contributed to community charitable causes.  The events are not only an opportunity to raise money but are great occasions for busy people to work together and socialize at the same time.  About $5,000 are raised each year from these events and distributed to the community.

  • Annual Pancake Breakfast has been a longtime tradition for the club, served in recent years on the morning of the first Sunday in February at the Best Western University Inn.

Tom Lee explains to Chef Bob Wells the fundamentals of making pancakes, with Tom Kulick as sous chef waiting patiently.

Mike Crowe delivers a fresh batch of pancakes to Phyllis Howard at the Pancake Breakfast, 2005.

Kevin Acres and Margie Strait take a break from pouring orange juice at the pancake breakfast.

  • Annual Spaghetti Dinner is a fall activity for the club, with about 300 dinners served or taken out from the high school cafeteria at Canton Central School.

Dave Nelson and Tom Lee suit up with Rotary aprons for the Spaghetti Dinner while Bob Wells tells yet another story.

Martha Foley Smith prepares trays of garlic bread for the hungry crowd outside.

  • Radio Days have become a Canton Rotary Club regular fundraiser.  Local businesses are approached to purchase an advertising spot , club members record the spots in advance, and for two mornings in June, members go to the Potsdam radio station to do live interviews about Rotary activities in the North Country.

  • Each winter, for a home game of ice hockey at Appleton Arena, club members sell 50/50 tickets that are raffled off to a lucky winner.
